Special Junior Achievement Section
FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Since 1939, Junior Achievement of Western Pennsylvania has worked to
propel our region’s youth toward a
lifetime of success and prosperity
fueled by their own talents,
entrepreneurial spirit and the work
ethic that has long been a defining characteristic of
western Pennsylvania. Each year, our organization
brings the ideals of entrepreneurship, workforce
readiness and financial literacy to tens of thousands
of students in classrooms across our region. In the
past year alone, Junior Achievement has positively and
directly made an impact on nearly 70,000 students
throughout western Pennsylvania.
Recently, our organization honored five individuals
and one of our region’s most active employers, who
embody the spirit of enterprise we work to instill in our
region’s young people. With the 26th annual Spirit
of Enterprise Awards, we honored Evan Frazier of
Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield; Christina Cummings
and Angela Carr of Turbie Twist; Lee B. Foster III of L.B.
Foster Company.; Chester R. Babst III, of Babst Calland;
and Trib Total Media.
In the following pages of this special insert, you will
find the inspiring stories of this year’s Spirit of Enterprise
honorees. They serve as examples of innovation,
persistence, business excellence and community-mindedness and demonstrate to our young people that
even in the face of adversity, success can be achieved.
We applaud them for their accomplishments, we
thank them for their service and we are grateful to all of
you who support our work and serve as examples in
your own right for our region’s youth to follow.
