Art of the Matter
;e picture of the H.J. Heinz
food ;rm manufacturing tomato
ketchup might be a little misleading [“;e Way We Were,” December
2013]. ;e picture, dated 1876, is
an obvious reference to the year
the company was founded and not
when the picture was taken. I call
your attention to the electric light
bulbs (incandescent lamps) hanging from the ceiling. ;e Edison bulb was invented in 1879.
Editor’s note: Pittsburgh Steelers running back
Le’Veon Bell’s collision with Baltimore Ravens
cornerback Jimmy Smith on ;anksgiving inspired a
Pulling No Punches blog post titled “For the Love of
God, Let’s Start Being Honest About Concussions.”
With this call, the NFL has established a precedent
that will lead to more and greater injuries. It is now
a perfectly acceptable strategy for defensive players
to attempt to de-helmet o;ensive players in goal-line stands.

;e player with the concussion is unable to play for
several games. So the player who causes a concussion with a helmet-to-helmet contact should not
be allowed to play for the same amount of time.

I used the Pierogies Plus recipe to make pierogies
for the ;rst time [“Pierogi 2.0,” November 2013].
;ey turned out awesome! Although I am an avid
cook, I never attempted to make these Pittsburgh
favorites; I have been totally intimidated [by the
idea of making] pierogies. I will de;nitely make
them again. I always save my issues of Pittsburgh
Magazine to ;nd out where the best brunch is or
what new restaurant I must check out.
In our December dining review, we printed an
incorrect phone number for Burgh’ers in Harmony. ;e correct number is 724/473-0710. We
regret the error.
