Best in Class
I was surprised to see that Robert Morris University was not
included among Pittsburgh’s
best professors and best
courses in your recent “Best in
Class” article [September 2014].
RMU has experienced
tremendous growth these past several years,
none of which would have been possible without
accomplished faculty who inspire their students.
;e ;ve freshman classes that have entered the
university since fall 2009 have been the largest in
our history, with record numbers of international
students and students living on campus.
Meanwhile, RMU has earned every professional
accreditation available to its ;ve schools, re;ecting increased rigor in our academic programs that
is evidenced by rising average SAT scores among
incoming freshman. Since 2008, our placement rate
has ranged from 92 to 95 percent, despite sluggish
job growth nationwide. For the Class of 2013, 92
percent were employed or enrolled in graduate
school within one year, and 88 percent of those
who are employed are working in their ;eld of
Many factors contribute to our success, but
none is more important than the hard work of our
faculty. ;ey are teachers, scholars and mentors
who have no greater priority than the achievement
and wellbeing of our students. ;ey teach challenging and interesting courses, which our students and
their families appreciate dearly — as do I.
