BENEFICIARIES: BBF, a 56-year-old Pittsburgh-based
international charity, provided over 100,000 tons of donated
medicines, textbooks and other supplies around the world in
MISSION: BBF’s mission is to promote international health
and education through the efficient and effective distribution
and provision of donated medical, educational, agricultural and
other resources. All BBF programs are designed to fulfill its
mission by connecting people’s resources with people’s needs.
KEY EVENTS/INITIATIVES: In an effort to increase
aid to areas where it is most needed, BBF’s Africa Medical
Initiative delivers requested medical supplies and equipment to
hospitals and clinics in countries in Africa. BBF is responding
to the outbreak of Ebola and has already sent eight container
shipments of requested protective medical supplies.
GET INVOLVED: BBF welcomes donations of gently used
medical equipment and unopened packages of medical
supplies. Financial donations to help with shipping can be made

best efforts in all they do to be the “best of the batch” in life.
KEY EVENTS/INITIATIVES: Batchpacks: School
supplies are handed out to students with more than 5,000
BatchPacks given out since the program started; In the Pocket:
A fundraiser benefiting the foundation’s Reading & Computer
Literacy Programs, compete in bowling, ping-pong, pool, poker
and more with Steelers players and local celebrities; Batch A
Toys: An organized toy drive with a “wrapping party” that has
distributed more than 25,000 toys to local children during the
holidays; Project C.H.U.C.K.: Annual basketball league that
teaches discipline, self-confidence, team orientation and fun-
damental basketball skills; Next Level Athletics: Track club for
males/females ages 6-18; Scholarships & Reading /Computer
Literacy: With the foundation’s commitment
to education and literacy, we encourage 300
minutes a month reading challenges to
parents with their children and have a state
of the art computer center.
