BENEFICIARIES: The Children’s Home & Lemieux Family
Center serves infants, children and their families in Pittsburgh
and the surrounding counties, and we also provide services to
regional, national and international patients.
MISSION: The Children’s Home of Pittsburgh & Lemieux
Family Center is an independent, non-profit licensed organization whose purpose is to promote the health and well-being
of infants and children through services which establish and
strengthen the family. Our three signature programs, Adoption,
Child’s Way® and the Pediatric Specialty Hospital work independently and collaboratively to accomplish our mission.
KEY EVENTS/INITIATIVES: Third Annual The
Children’s HOMEtown Hero Luncheon will be held on Oct.
24, 2014 at the Omni William Penn Hotel and will honor Dan
McCoy, 2014 Paralympic Gold Medalist. Fourth Annual Noe’s
Night of Light will be held on Nov. 1, 2014 at DiSalvo’s Station
Restaurant. Sixth Annual Isabella’s Celebrate Life Event will be
held in November 2014 and Shake Your Booties, our signature
gala event, featuring delicious food, entertainment and auctions
will celebrate its 14th year in March 2015.
GET INVOLVED: Join us for Volunteer Night, or become
a “Patient Care” volunteer; sign up for email updates and follow
us on social media; make a tribute gift,
purchase a brick in the garden pathway,
donate an item from our wish list; organize a special event to benefit the organization; or donate through the United Way
(contributor choice number is 155).
BENEFICIARIES: Open to all who desire to use it, the
Library welcomes more than 2. 2 million visitors a year and is a
key partner in the vitality of our region.
MISSION: The Library engages our community in literacy
and learning. Through the Library, the people of our region
develop the literacies and connections that support individual
achievement, neighborhood revitalization and an improved
quality of life. Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh builds community,
enables learning, provides access and values people.
KEY EVENTS/INITIATIVES: The Library continues
to transform library services in response to community need,
providing: innovative, out-of-school connected learning experiences for children and youth that stimulate creativity and skill
development; cutting-edge technology and robust collections
in collaborative spaces that inspire and support job creators
and job seekers; and investment in neighborhood locations and
the extension of services beyond library walls in order to foster
civic engagement, cultural awareness and social connections
and build a community of readers.
