BENEFICIARIES: Serving more than 170 enrolled
students who attend our on-campus program, which is
designed for students with visual impairment coupled with
other serious physical and cognitive disabilities.
In addition, WPSBC offers vital Outreach services and
programs to babies, toddlers and school-age students with visual impairments
currently attending their local schools.
MISSION: The mission of the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind
Children is to be a leading educational facility and outreach provider. The
School offers a full range of exceptional, individualized special education
services fostering maximum independence for students with visual
impairment, including blindness and other challenges and provides support
and resources to families and the community.
KEY EVENTS/INITIATIVES: Every day, we have the opportunity to
observe the direct impact that donations and gifts from the community have
on our programs for youngsters with severe disabilities. Through the
generosity of individuals, foundations and groups, the school is able to
purchase needed equipment, maintain healthy adult to student ratios and
augment the program by offering meaningful extracurricular activities.
GET INVOLVED: Whether you are interested in donating your time,
talents or resources, you have the power to empower the very deserving boys
and girls who attend WPSBC. For more information, call 412/621-0100 or
